Things break, from glass to people. Our world is full brokenness, but it’s also filled with people trying to use creative and innovate ways to rejuvenate the pieces. Oklahoma residents have an unfortunate #1 ranking: they have the highest risk of death from heart disease of any state in the country. But there is new hope for heart patients. Clinical trials are taking place for a revolutionary heart pump right here in Oklahoma at Integris Advanced Cardiac Care Center. A team of experts, headed up by director Dr. James Long, is working with a new device called the Levacor. It represents the newest generation of ventricular assist device (VAD) technology. And Chris McGahan, along with his son Micah, is finding creative ways to forge new life into old broken glass. At Bella Forte Studio, they are molding unique pieces with recycled glass, titled “Redento Raffinatos” meaning redeemed elegance in Italian.
