We stopped off the coast of Lanai during our snorkeling trip recently. After being in the water for close to an hour, it was time to head home. As we were getting close to the dive boat, one of the crew yelled, "Dolphins!" We found ourselves in the middle of a playful pod (35-40) of Hawaiian Spinner dolphins, including some babies.
We were told to not chase them, or try to touch them, and we could float around and watch them. It's pretty tough to describe what it is like to be completely surrounded by some of the most amazing animals in the world, and feeling like they had come over just to make our experience just a little more interesting...
